METHODOLOGY

Vertical Divider
18 & Under Fastpitch
The methodology of the 18 & Under Final National Rankings is based upon 3 pieces; the 3 - year history of a team’s on field performance called the National Points System (NPS), the Coaches’ Vote (Ballot) and the College Player Index (CPI).  Each piece is weighted separately to make up the overall rank, NPS = 70%, Ballot=28% and CPI=2%.

1. The NPS is the bulk of the overall rank and each of the 3 years is weighted independently as follows; 2019 = 50% weight, 2018 = 30% weight and 2017 = 20% weight.  Each year’s points are derived from a team’s Colorado 4th of July finish (Fireworks, Sparkler, Boulder IDT) and their highest points for one national championship event (PGF, TC/USA Nationals, USSSA WFC, USA JO Cup, USA Gold Nationals, USA A Nationals) and up to 2 regional events (any organization as long as there is an elimination bracket and full results are available from the organizer).

2. The Ballot is sent to the top 100 teams from the previous year and they are asked to vote for up to 50 teams.  Ballots are electronically submitted and counted.  50 points are given to a team for each 1st place vote, 49 points for each 2nd place vote and so on down to 1 point for a 50th place vote.  All points are counted from the ballots and the point total is listed along with a ballot rank.

3.
The CPI is primarily used as a tie breaker since the weight is only 2%.  Teams are welcome to submit a list of players from all graduation years, the team name, grad year and full school name for each player is needed.  In 2018 the only graduation years that count are 2018, 2017, 2016 and 2015 for a history and only 7 players maximum will count towards the CPI points.  A player that signs with NCAA DI = 4 points, NCAA DII/NAIA = 3 points, NCAA DIII = 2 points and Junior College = 1 point.  If a player signs at a school in the PAC12, B1G, Big 12, Big East, ACC or SEC they will receive a bonus point.

14 & Under and 16 & Under Fastpitch
The methodology of the 14 and 16 & Under is based upon the current year of on field performance.   A team’s Colorado 4th of July finish (Fireworks, Sparkler, Boulder IDT) and their highest points for one national championship event (PGF, TC/USA Nationals, USSSA WFC, USA JO Cup, USA Gold Nationals, USA A Nationals) are added together to comprise a point total.  Any organization's events, as long as there is an elimination bracket and full results are available from the organizer, are eligible for consideration
.  The overall National Ranking is based upon the two event point total.

12 & Under Fastpitch
The methodology of the 12 & Under is based again upon the current year of on field performance.  A team’s best two National Tournament finishes (PGF, TC Sparkler Juniors, USSSA WFC, USA A Nationals) are added together to comprise a point total.  Any organization's events, as long as there is an elimination bracket and full results are available from the organizer, are eligible for consideration.  The overall National Ranking is based upon the two event point total.
